Sunday (race day) proved to be an equally good day as Sami Posted a convincing pole to finish line win, hard on his heels in 2nd place was his new Mad Croc team mate Alex Carella. The next race is in Linyi China October 2nd & 3rd. So its time to kick back for a couple of weeks and enjoy the summer.

P.T.R 2009.   The year turned out to be a gratifying on for us. 2009 saw us team up with Ted Gryguc to race in the CHAMP BOAT F1 series in the USA with " TEAM SPEEDMASTER  TALON BOATS" . Although the poor economy limited the amount of events we did win ALL the races and the 2009 CHAMPIONSHIP" The CHAMP series has been restructured and is now called  F1 PROP Racing. The new organization seems to have their stuff together and we can expect a full compliment of races for 2010.  Our Year ended satisfactorily on the World U.I.M  circuit with a respectable 3rd place in World Championship points but even more gratifying was the world record 8 poles in 10 races.

2009 the year in review: As with all racing at the World class F1 levels the unexpected makes a huge difference in the outcome of a season. This was  true with the "TEAM MAD CROC" SAMI SELIÖ F1 RACING FOR 2009. The year got off to a bad start with 3 DNF's in the 1st 8 races. the nemesis proved to be boat issues that with diligent work were overcome by the time we got to China. From then on Team Mad Croc and P.T.R, set a blistering pace winning 8 poles in the next 10 races. The season ended up with a respectable 3rd place in the U.I.M World Championship Points. Now we all look forward to some down time before we start our planning for 2010.

October 13 2009   : PTR 's own Russell  Bentley our Chief engineer , mechanical and race engines,  as well as an accomplished drag racer had a great weekend Oct 3rd and 4th. He ran in the DSRA World Finals in Gulfport MS. 90 boats in attendance and a $40,000 purse up for grabs. It was a 3 day event, 2 for qualifying and the final on Sunday. To quote Russ " I lined them up and mowed them down one at a time with no losses. It was pretty cool, the PTR engine performed flawlessly". Our congratulations to Russ for a job well done. 101309

September 8 09:  Team "SPEEDMASTER/TALON BOATS"  capped off a perfect season with their 3rd win in Kankakee Illinois on September 7th.  This makes it a clean sweep for the P.T.R Powered boat with 3 wins in 3 races. Due to organization problems the season has been shortened and Team "SPEEDMASTER/TALON BOATS" declared the 2009 CHAMP BOAT  CHAMPION.  Driver Shaun Torrente performed flawlessly in 2009 and well deserves the Championship. 090809

"The history of the U.I.M. F1 H2O World Championship dates all the way back 28 years ago. During this time, the series has been known for its many challenging and difficult race circuits that make these Grand Prix events the most daring in all of water sports.

A few examples of the “rough and tough” circuits these catamaran boats have raced on during their history include the open large expanse of Lake Como in Italy. The mountain lake was the setting for the original Grand Prix back in summer of 1981 and with its turbulent winds coming from the foothills of the Alps combined with ferry boat traffic makes this one of the most difficult to master.

The exposed race circuit of the open ocean along the waterfront in downtown Doha and the Grand Prix of Qatar mixes the swells with the sublime of the almost mill pond inner harbor feeling at the other end of the two kilometer lap. Get it right and you’ve earned pole position, get it wrong and you quickly go airborne like a Boeing 777. If you don’t believe it check the pole position qualifying action of two years ago that saw two recent World Champions fly and then stall into the water at over 220 kilometers or 130 miles per hour.

As the 2009 campaign rolls into the lovely setting of Lahti, Finland being the host city for the second straight year and the back to back races on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of June, the large and looming expanse of Lake Vesijarvi has in just one year become the signature event for daring driving. As this circuit awaits ready to swallow up the non-suspecting drivers that don’t appreciate the lakes personality that is non-forgiving." Steve Michaels.053109

Time for a few facts about F1 Boat engines.  The engines for F1 racing are of 2 types. First the factory Mercury Racing and 2nd those  of 3 race engineers (locked in with the top 3 teams). The factory produces about 255HP out of the 2.5L 6 cylinder Mercury engine. As with all racing the need to go faster has led to some talented people to meet the challenge with engineering advances that have produced remarkable results. The 3 world leaders in this engine development are Ron Anderson of Team Abu Dhabi, Brendan Powers of team Qatar and Dr Alex Hledin of Team Sami Seliö and the founder of Performance Through Research ( P.T.R.) These dedicated people get approximately 450 to 475 HP from this 2.5 L engine. 050409

Performance Facts:  0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds. 0 to 100 mph in under 4 seconds.  Top speed in race set up about 185 mph. average speed on a straight away 140mph. The factory engines are designed to turn at about 6500 RPM where as the R&D engines race at 11500, to 12300 RPM. .050409

2008 U.I.M F1 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR IN REVIEW. 2008 proved to be a year of highs and lows for P.T.R ,Team Seliö and Team Kourtsenovsky. Sami Seliö the 2007 World Champion although finishing a credible 2nd in the final points standing for 2008 could have done so much better but for an intermittent electrical problem with a cable that plagued the boat for the first 3 races. Sami dominated the field from the Saint Petersburg race until the season end in Sharjah UAE.

Stanislav Kourtsenovsky had a brilliant maiden year earning World Championship points in 4 of the 1st 5 races. A difficult 2nd half left him in 14th place at the seasons end.

December 2007:

-F1 BOAT WORLD CHAMPIONS 2007" "TEAM ENERGY" AND "P.T.R ENGINES"  WIN THE GRAND PRIX OF SHARJAH AND THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Sami Seliö, capped the perfect race with both the pole position and start to finish win in Sharjah Emirates today. Sami had to win the race and 9 time world champion Guido Cappellini had to finish no better that 7th. Karma was with the team as Guido was forced to with draw from the race with a loose canopy. 4 races in 20 days took its toll in the Tamoil boat. let THE PARTY begin.121507
