Peter Hledin is a legend as the owner and builder of "SKATER" boats . The gold standard for high end high performance boating. The founder of "Douglas Marine" he has pioneered the development  of technical and innovative expertise to a level that has made "SKATER BOATS"  the envy of the industry.
Peter's brother Alex shares an equally lofty reputation as a world leader in engine development, for his work on F1 marine motors. Alex's company "PERFORMANCE THROUGH RESEARCH" (PTR.). Is considered a leading edge researcher ,  developer and fabricator of the high performance outboard engine.
   Quirky as it seems, the origin of the Hledin's  expertise was reversed. From a young age The Hledin brothers were building race boats and motors. However it was the older brother Alex who built the boats and Peter the engines. After suffering one too many test wrecks and enduring more pain than he thought prudent Peter decided that Alex had better give up building boats  and concentrate on his strengths of engine development and he, Peter would build the boats. After all if he was going wreck it might as well be in boats that he built.
